QA Analyst (Tech Focused) – Job Description

Exciting news—atVenu is expanding! We’re looking for a sharp, detail-oriented, tech savvy QA Analyst who can see the big picture, without missing the smallest of errors. With our software being used at live events, it’s crucial that everything works flawlessly.
So, if you are a forward-thinking QA Analyst who can create and execute strategic test plans, that embrace technical advancements (i.e. testing tools and AI), this could be the role for you. The ideal candidate is going to be naturally curious, a champion of tech adoption and be highly collaborative.
You Will:
Manual QA
- Design, review, maintain and execute well-structured test cases/suites for various applications, with an emphasis on identifying and documenting test cases for automation
- Document and track any bugs or production issues; provide testing summary and execution results
- Identify testing opportunities/recommendations and provide feedback
- Perform defect reporting and management
- Actively participate in the release management process; provide concise updates weekly, fit for consumption by the executive team and/or compliance and customers
- Apply risk management best practices as it applies to testing
- Support and promote the development of QA team initiatives
- Document Features and Workflows
- Collaborate with the product, development and QA teams to learn about our business, our pain points and where the automation opportunities may be
- Create an automation plan with the goal of process efficiency and cost reduction; the plan must incorporate best practices and fit for purpose tools/programs
- Facilitate the adoption and execution of approved automation plans
- Completed a QA certification, or a relevant diploma or degree
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a QA role, with dedicated experience using automation tools such as Webdriver IO and Appium
- Proven ability to ask questions and synthesize information to ensure test cases are relevant and results are understood
- Demonstrated ability to be highly analytical, to a point; aware of potential to over analyze/test
- Proven ability to work as a collaborative and effective team player cross-functionally
- Strong communicator who pays attention to details, is comfortable with technical jargon, and asks thoughtful questions
- Provides feedback and results in a way that engages the developers and product managers to work collaboratively on solutions
- Experience with SQL, test automation or a programming language
- Experience with financial applications
- Security testing and compliance
Remote Work Option
Most of our QA team resides in Calgary, Alberta and predominately work remotely. Preference will be given to candidates based locally.
